The Virtual Lynching of Rev. Jeremiah Wright

Sun, 11 May 2008 18:00:52 PDT
The recent editorial assaults on Rev. Jeremiah Wright amount to a virtual "lynching" of him. Fifty years ago the southern white Democratic elite would have used the word "uppity" to describe an outspoken preacher like Rev. Wright. Today the predominently white elite that controls the national Democratic Party probably doesn't use the word, but the recent attacks against Rev.Wright indicates the elite may have the same attitude toward black preachers who disagree with the views of the elite.

teamsugar - social networking for women

Sun, 11 May 2008 18:03:05 PDT
After Jane’s last post, I started pondering how women are engaging with the web and social networking. I did a little research and found a very popular social networking site for women, that I had never heard of, teamsugar. Something about the layout, fonts, and topics on teamsugar remind me of popular magazines such as Mademoiselle, People, and Glamour. Once you join teamsugar, you can use the site to chat with friends, meet people, create and maintain a blog, post recipes, read the latest

How To Ask Beautiful Questions

Sun, 11 May 2008 18:04:03 PDT
Sometime back I was watching a program on a business TV channel where a bunch of reputed CEOs, CFOs, COOs, etc., were judges for a young business entrepreneur program. Each young participant was to present a business case study for the winning entry. However, the program was going nowhere as the judges were not allowing any participant to complete the presentation or go beyond a couple of sentences, and would constantly bombard them with questions after questions. And the judges were even

Boston Legal: David Kelly Series to Return for Season Five

Sun, 11 May 2008 18:04:15 PDT
Boston Legal: David Kelly Series to Return for Season Five It looks like ABC’s Boston Legal will be returning this fall. Though the drama has a small but devout audience, its future was up in the air because of another David E. Kelley series. Kelley owns the U.S. rights to Life on Mars, a BBC series which follows a 21st Century detective who finds himself thrown back to the 1970s. Kelley has been developing an American version of the show since 2006 when ABC committed to the pilot. He was se

Lobbyist - possibly the funniest profession in the world

Sun, 11 May 2008 18:05:37 PDT
This is one of the most amusing attempts at gathering sympathy that I’ve heard in a long time: “The motor vehicle industry has slammed a budget plan to increase the tax on luxury cars, saying it will hurt families struggling with the higher cost of fuel and could force makers to drop safety features. Treasurer Wayne Swan has confirmed that tomorrow’s budget will increase the tax on cars of more than $57,000 from 25% to 33% and will affect about 105,000 car purchases a year. The plan is part

Perfection - Part 2 of 2 - The good news

Sun, 11 May 2008 18:06:42 PDT
I'll start this one off with some brief technicalities and then get on with it. The words that are translated as "perfect" or "perfected" originate as two Greek words: Teleios (Strong's 5046) is the adjective form of the word, and it's used more commonly. It means "brought to it's end, finished; wanting nothing necessary to completeness; perfect; that which is perfect." The word that is used a little less often is Teleioo (Strong's 5048). It's the verb form of the word and it means "to make p

Fines But No Suspensions For Ribeiro, Osgood

Sun, 11 May 2008 18:12:37 PDT
Update 1932 EST: Confirmed from Mike Heika at the Dallas Morning News. He also says Ribeiro was “quite feisty today” at practice. Twitchy too, I’m sure. That’s according to Andrew’s Dallas Stars Page. Sounds good to me. Want more on Ribeiro’s antics? Read George Malik’s observations from Game 2.

No Suspensions For Ribeiro & Osgood

Sun, 11 May 2008 18:12:37 PDT
via Mike Heika of Dallas Stars Blog at the Dallas Morning News, The league just confirmed. There are some fines involved, but both Ribeiro and Osgood are good to go for Game 3. That’s important for the Stars, particularly if Lehtinen is hurt and can’t play. Ribeiro was quite feisty today, so it will be interesting if he transfers that energy to the ice. added 7:07pm, Sorry for the back to back posts on this topic. At least we used different sources!

Public: Don't Mess With My Flight Plans

"Pretty soon we'll have to fly naked!" The mass media rapidly embraced the UK terror storyline fed to them.
